Escape the Winter Blahs! Our mid-January event features a 50% discount for you ...
-- The Route 70 Goddard School, located at 255 Route 70 in Toms River, NJ, is hosting its Winter Wonderland Open-House event, January 17th thru January 21st. Families with children, from 6-weeks to 6-years of age, are encouraged to stop by between the hours of 9AM and 5PM, to tour the award-winning preschool and childcare center to discover all that the school and Kindergarten has to offer.
To sweeten things a little bit, any family that enrolls during Open-House week receives 50 percent off their first month's tuition.
Registrations will be taken for any enrollment, including enrollment for this year's summer program, fall program, and the private Kindergarten program. Owners of the school say, “It's important for families to visit the school first, to appreciate how open and bright our classrooms really are, and to experience the many early-learning activities we offer.” Along with math, science, language arts, and fine and gross motor skills, The Goddard School curriculum also includes no-charged resource activities like sign language, Spanish, fitness, and nutrition, Art history, Music appreciation, and courtesy and respect.
"Our early-education childcare surpasses traditional daycare.”, says Sharon Jensen, the school’s Education Director. ‘We help your child develop learning skills at a pace that supports his or her individual potential ... from curious infant to exploring preschooler to confident kindergartener.’
The Private Kindergarten program has been an especially big success. Some of the more impressive benefits of the Goddard Kindergarten program include the smaller class size - the student-to-teacher ratio is only 50% of that in public school Kindergarten classrooms.
NEW HOURS: We are now open from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM!Our warm, loving atmosphere gives you the choice of a year round half-day or extended day program, from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Our bright and spacious state-of-the-art, custom-designed building has been planned to provide a safe, healthy and stimulating environment. Which toys are best this year ?
Preschoolers Got to Test Toys Before the Holidays
Preschoolers at the Goddard School had fun playing with some of this year’s new toys recently, after reviewing toys from different companies to test which ones they liked best.
The top five toys for preschoolers this holiday season, as identified from a nationwide search of a lot of toys, are toys that both encouraged creativity, and were designed to encourage playful learning as well.
Parents are asking what the results are because they're looking for shopping ideas," says the school officials, “because families want to know which toys are best both for safety and engaging activity for their children.”
At the Goddard School, a leader in early childhood education, children are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a warm environment, supported by a team of dedicated teachers. Children are also provided with carefully planned educational programs that meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of each child.
The results? The top five toys from this year's toy chest were:
- Kid K'nex Railroad Pals Building Set – available at both Kmart and Walmart
- Baby Stella Doll and Gear – from Walmart
- Slimy, Squishy Polymer Science Fun – from Amazon
- Citi Blocs Hot & Cool Color Set – Amazon.com
- Green Toys Blocks – Amazon.com

It's Fall -- Take a Hike!
September 17th, 2010 by Sue Adair, Goddard SystemsIn a survey by the Outdoor Foundation, it was found that children are primarily motivated by their families to participate in outdoor activities. What better way to get children outdoors and active, than by going on a family hike? Below are some tips for planning your hike so the littlest of hikers have a fun and rewarding experience.
- Plan your hike in advance. When children are joining you, it’s always nice to hike towards a goal like a lake or waterfall so they’ll be motivated to keep trekking along. The sites listed below are great resources for selecting a location and trails to explore: www.outdoorfoundation.org, www.gorp.com, www.appalachiantrail.org, www.americanhiking.org and www.hikesafe.com.
- Be prepared! Gear everyone up with appropriate, well-fitting hiking shoes or boots and comfortable, breathable clothing — bright colors (for little ones mostly) and layers are best.
- Stock your backpacks with Deet-free bug spray, water, snacks, a well-stocked first-aid kit, GPS unit and rain gear, just in case.
- If a child is too small to walk on their own, consider using a backpack carrier rather than a stroller. It’ll be easier to maneuver over the terrain with baby in tow and they’re sure to enjoy the “bird’s-eye” view.
- Establish and discuss “rules of the trail” before you head out, e.g., staying quiet to not disturb the animals, plants to steer clear of, not running off, etc.
- Start with short hikes on easy trails with fairly flat surfaces to get everyone accustomed to the hiking experience.
- Take your time. Go slow so everyone can keep up, but also to enjoy and explore your surroundings.
- Geocaching or playing games on your hike are great ways to keep children interested and moving along. Visit www.geocaching.com to find out more about this fun outdoor family activity.
Happy hiking!
