Artistic Expression is Child's Play at the Route 70 Early-Education Center.
[Toms River, NJ] -- The art of having fun, and playing with mud (i.e., a phrase for working clay into pottery), is alive and well for children at The Goddard School, located at 255 Route 70 in Toms River, NJ (http://www.goddardschool.com/Schools/Toms-River-II-NJ/Schools.gspx). On Tuesday, August 12, 2008, the school hosts a kid-friendly ceramics service, *ColorMeMine* (tomsriver.colormemine.com), that helps children create ceramic art and have fun in a highly creative way.
The people at *ColorMeMine* know how to amuse children of all ages, including infants! Even the youngest child likes to play with “mud”, camel-hair brushes, sponges and paints. Finger painting on their choice of ceramic pieces, but not on the teachers, is not just allowed, but definitely encouraged! The paints rinse off both the children and their clothes with plain water. All of the paints are non-toxic, lead free, and food-safe, also! The colors are dishwasher safe too, so these “art treasures” can stand up to Mom’s brisk cleaning. The children have their choice of over 400 different pieces to paint, including dolphins, frogs, mermaids and other aquatic life. There are plates, platters and bowls in useful sizes and shapes, and there are cookie jars, flower pots, and even miniatures to stimulate their creativity.
“Our arts program is not just about using crayons or learning the names of colors. Our children experience fun-learning through all sorts of art activities and artistic expression. We encourage the children to experiment with a variety of art concepts, like shapes, lines, space and combinations of colors through developmentally appropriate activities”, says Ms. Dana Chibbaro (CQ), owner and operator of The Goddard School on Route 70. “We even introduce Art History to the children, to expose them to the influence of art and artists throughout human history.”
