*Green Eggs & Ham* Highlights the Joys of Reading

-- On Monday, March 2, 2008, *Doctor Seuss Day* is on tap for all the youngsters at The Goddard School located at 255 Route 70 in Toms River, NJ - http://www.goddardschool.com/Schools/Toms-River-II-NJ/Schools.gspx.

On this day, pre-school teachers, kindergarten teachers, other education professionals, school administrators, and children all over the country celebrate the birthday of America’s beloved children's author, Theodore Seuss Geisel, known to children and their parents as "Doctor Seuss".

Now in its twelfth year, *Doctor Seuss Day* is actually part of the Read-Across-America program, promoted by the National Education Association (NEA), to focus attention on the joys of reading and the importance of basic reading skills.

And, for the children at the Route 70 Goddard School, Geisel’s classic stories, *Green Eggs and Ham* and *The Cat in the Hat*, have set the “gold-standard” for observing the day -- as the iconic character himself, wearing his signature red-and-white stove-pipe hat and red bow-tie, visits the center to serve up a breakfast snack of green eggs and ham to all the children.

"Dr. Seuss is certainly one of the children's favorite authors," says Ms. Dana Chibbaro (CQ), owner and operator of the pre-school and kindergarten. "They simply love the zany characters of his books, the silly pictures and illustrations, and, of course, the sing-song rhyme which makes Dr. Seuss so famous."
